The Enterprise

Enterprise History

The Galaxy-class starship U.S.S. Enterprise with the registry number NCC‑1701‑D is one of the most renown ships of the series, apart from the original NCC‑1701. Throughout its storied commission the ship was under the command of Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart. The Enterprise-D itself makes an appearance in the last episode of “Star Trek: Enterprise” (2005) as well which is currently the last Star Trek™ episode to date.

In the pilot episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” the Enterprise is introduced as one of the first Galaxy-class starships. Several years later, it is heavily damaged after a battle with a Klingon Bird-of-Prey in “Star Trek Generations”. The drive section is destroyed in a warp core breach and the saucer section is unsalvageable after crash landing on Veridian III. While Jean-Luc Picard has been the only captain of the Enterprise-D, it has seen other officers take temporary command, including Edward Jellico (“Chain of Command”), and William Riker (“The Best of Both Worlds”).
